Abstract
In this project, nickel oxide nanospheres have been controllably synthesized via an electrochemical deposition method through ZnO template-assisted method to perform ZnO core – NiO shell (ZnO@NiO). Morphology of as-prepared samples was characterized by field-emission scanning electron microcopy (FE-SEM). It was found that the uniform spheres of core–shell structure were made with ZnO cores surrounded by NiO shells. Electrochemical properties were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge/discharge (GCD) measurements, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Electrochemical results reveal that NiO nanospheres have a high specific capacitance of 246.61 F gr-1 and show good cycle performance. These results demonstrate that the present ZnO@NiO core–shell nanospheres with remarkable electrochemical properties can be considered as potential electrode materials for supercapacitors in high energy density storage systems.
