Abstract:
The wide use of dyes in industries has made water and wastewater treatment a critical issue. A novel polymeric absorbent is synthesized for effective removal of acid dyes by the use of magnetic halloysite nanotubes. First, the magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized on the surface of halloysite nanotubes with co-precipitation method, the achieved nanocomposite were then employed as the support for surface polymerization. The resulting magnetic composite was assessed by several characterizations. The polymeric absorbent showed fast separation kinetics, fitted by pseudo-second order kinetic model, high absorption capacity of 33.8 µmol/g and facile regeneration process, which make it a good candidate for industrial wastewater treatment procedures.
