Abstract
In this study, ethane-bridged PMO nanoparticles have been synthesized using two different silica sources including TEOS and 1,2-bis(triethoxysillyl) ethane. The effect of TEOS on the average size of nanoparticles and the specific surface area were investigated. The obtained results revealed that the nanoparticles which were synthesized without using TEOS have smaller size (about 40 nm) and larger specific surface area (860.08 m2/g-1). The difference in the rate of hydrolysis and condensation between the two different silica sources results in decreasing surface area and increasing nanoparticle's size.
