Abstract:
In this work, the PS/EOC/graphene nanoplatelets nanocomposite prepared through solution blending process is investigated. Graphene powder is synthesized through electrochemical synthesis and characterized by XRD analysis. The synthesized powder is a mixture of unreacted graphite and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP, 6 layers) while the efficiency of the synthesis is around 66%. The change in the morphology of the immiscible PS/POE blend with GNP addition and improvement of the compatibility and refinement of the structure is approved by SEM images. The dielectric constant and loss factor are good signs of electrical conductivity for polymer nanocomposites. In this investigation, dielectric properties of nanocomposites with the GNP concentration of 0.5 and 1.5wt% are measured. Results show that with an increase of GNP concentration, dielectric constant increases which are in agreement with micro-capacitor model. While the dielectric loss's amount, which is a good sign of leakage of current and reaching to percolation threshold, is increased by 50 times in the blend nanocomposite composed of 1.5 wt. % GNP.
