Abstract
In this study, CO2 and CH4 adsorption on two different carbon Nano-Adsorbents was investigated. The equilibrium adsorption capacities of CO2 and CH4 were measured on samples with an in-house made setup. Melamine modified Iranian asphaltene nanoporous carbon (M-IANC) with two different ratios of melamine/PIA was synthesized in three steps and characterized by emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), nitrogen adsorption-desorption at 77 K. Total pore volume and average pore diameter of the M-IANC-(1/1) are higher than M-IANC-(1/4). The adsorption capacity of CO2 and CH4 increased up to 16.13 mmol /g and 8.21 mmol /g, at 298 K and 1 bar, respectively. The results of CO2 and CH4 adsorption revealed that the amount of adsorption capacity of M-IANC-(1/4) is higher than M-IANC-(1/1) which has agreement with the results of surface area. The adsorption process was carried out for 4 cycles. It states that, the amount of adsorption has no significant change.
